About Us Introducing Warren Smith: Director and Mastermind behind EBR Warren has been laying bricks in various shapes and sizes since he was 15 when he started his training with his British born father. They later returned to the UK where Warren continued his trade, learning a wide range of brick and stone work and the necessary problem solving skills. He started refractory installation in 1987 and was fortunate to work with one of this country’s most skilled and respected refractory experts. At this time he worked in lime and cement kilns, all areas of steel mills and oil refineries, chemical recovery and power boilers but also smaller package boilers such as those seen in sawmills, fertiliser plants and timber mills. He has installed almost every kind of refractory brick and has worked extensively with castable cements, plastics and resinous substances as well as Rockwool, Kao-wool, ceramic boards and other insulating products. He has travelled extensively throughout NZ in this work and respected by all clients because of his honesty and integrity, has also built up a network of contacts and skilled tradesmen. Because Warren has worked with nearly all the refractory installation technicians in this country, it is easy for him to select only the best for EBR contracts. He has also been trained in industrial safety by some of the most demanding companies in NZ. Some courses took several days but ensured he is well trained in all aspects of industrial safety and the ideal person to train workers and identify possible hazards. Watching Warren at work it is obvious that he totally committed to the contract and providing the best and fastest service to the client with an emphasis on top quality work and safety. Warren is often accompanied by Kay, his partner in life and business and Co-director of EBR who is equally committed to providing the best service for our clients.
