Fire BricksA fire brick or refractory brick is a block of refractory ceramic material used in the lining of wood-fired ovens, pizza ovens, kilns, furnaces and fireplaces. A fire brick or refractory brick withstands high heat, and has low thermal conductivity to save energy. Fire bricks are usually used where there is exposure to significant chemical, thermal or mechanical stress which would cause an ordinary brick or building material to break down.Fire brick applications:
High Temperature ConcreteHigh temperature concretes or refractory castables that can withstand high temperatures without damage or destruction. These high temperature concretes are ideal for many applications where fire bricks are utilised, to deliver the ultimate performance. High temperature concrete is often used in conjunction with fire bricks and high temperature mortar.High Temperature InsulationInsulation is an important refractory material to ensure minimum heat loss and provide maximum safety. High temperature insulation is utilised in roofs or walls, ovens and other structures that require insulation and maximum heat retention. High temperature insulation is often used in conjunction with fire bricks and other high temperature materials.EBR offers a range of quality high temperature insulation products. High Temperature MortarsHigh temperature mortar is essential where fire bricks and high temperature concretes are used. High temperature mortars are utilised for filling in the joints between bricks for maximum strength, safety and presentation for a range of applications. These mortars are often used in conjunction with fire bricks and other high temperature materials. When used with other refractory materials, the high temperature mortar ensures ultimate heat resistance and safety, as well as damage or breakdown prevention.EBR offers a quality range of high temperature mortar products:
Other Refractory ProductsEBR's other refractory products include a range of quality refractory products, including fire bricks, high temperature concretes, high temperature insulation, high temperature mortar and a variety of miscellaneous products often utilised in conjunction with fire bricks and other high temperature materials. Outdoor, Wood-fired OvensEBR's experience in refractory means that we are often called in to investigate why some outdoor ovens fail to achieve their owners’ expectations. Although many people are encouraged to have a go at building their own pizza ovens and black and white wood-fired ovens, in our experience, if you want an outdoor oven which cooks as well or better than conventional ovens, you really need refractory products and a little advice. It's not as easy as it appears to make a real wood-fired oven and most are simply variations on earth ovens. These can crack, crumble and usually produce burned food. For this reason we built our own outdoor oven and several others of varying sizes and designs and are confident we can supply a well designed product which will work extremely well. We are happy to work to your design or ours and can create a masterpiece to create a focal point for any outdoor gathering. Thermo-probes or hand held, laser, digital thermometers can be supplied and installed. Outdoor ovens are ideal for all kinds of clubs and marae but also add charm to the garden and the ability to produce delicious food while socialising with friends at home. Anything which can be cooked in a conventional oven may be cooked in an outdoor, wood-fired oven and the improvement to flavour and texture is something that has to be experienced to be believed. The food tastes wonderful! Utilise dead trees and save power while making all kinds of breads and pastries, meat and vegetable dishes, puddings, cakes and biscuits and then as the oven cools, fruit cakes, meringues, and other slow cooked foods finally using the last of the oven’s heat to dry herbs, sterilise soil or even carefully dry laundry.
